The Art of Cookie Gifting Part 2

Now that we’ve discussed giving cookies to groups, let’s talk about individual cookie gifts. Why two different posts? When I’m giving to a group of people, it’s all about generosity. I want there to be enough for everyone, a variety so everyone can find something they like, and some sort of accommodation so that people with dietary restrictions feel included. When giving to an individual, it’s about being personal.

  1. First tip is to tailor your cookie choice. You might know that they love (or hate) chocolate, don’t eat nuts or that they love a sugar bomb. Think about how good you feel when you receive a present that’s full of the things you love. Good, right? You feel seen and appreciated. That’s what we’re going for.

  2. I also like to give an experience, not just a cookie. One of my favorite gifts is to pack up some homemade hot cocoa mix and marshmallows, a mug and some cookies for dunking. Big success. Know someone not crazy for sweets? Maybe make a breakfast box - some mini-scones and breakfast cookies. You don’t have to go crazy. If you know someone likes the color blue, put cookies in a pretty blue cookie tin instead of a cellophane bag.

  3. If you don’t know someone that well, go for the basics - some shortbread, some fancy instant coffee straws or tea bags and a nice mug.

  4. Focus on the person, go a bit beyond the cookie and you are sure to make someone happy. Happy cookie giving!
