For Mother’s and Father’s Day And Beyond

If you've checked our website you know that I began baking as a way to show appreciation and gratitude. No one deserves appreciation as much as our mothers and fathers, but I'm uncomfortable wishing everyone a happy Mother's Day or Father's Day. I think the way we celebrate them excludes too many people. There are children, and adults, who are parented by more people than those we've defined as "mother" or "father". There are aunts, uncles, siblings, grandparents, friends, and lots of other people who step up to care for the people who love and depend on them but who we don’t acknowledge on these days. Mother's Day and Father's Day are also painful holidays for so many - for those who lost the people who've cared for them or lost a child, for those who never had the opportunity to become a parent or know their parents.

So this year, in honor of Mother's and Father's Day, and in appreciation for everyone who cares for the people who love and depend on them, I want to try something different.
